Balancing Human Design Theory and Experience with My 1/3 Line Profile

I’ve had a number of people come for readings who mention they had their Human Design chart done in the past and what they were told completely scared them away. This always hits me right in the gut because I was very lucky when I first found Human Design. I booked a reading with someone I found on Instagram and it just so happened our designs were pretty similar. I felt like I had a safe space to ask all the questions I had, hear her experience, and talk about how the pain points that had been coming up for me could be turned into strengths. It was very instructive and supportive, and I’ve been hooked since then.

Difference between learned and lived experiences

When Human Design was first channeled by Ra, the language and messaging around it was meant to “wake people up.” It’s real, this is your energy … now go deal with it, sort of experience. I like to think of it like the world and all of humanity were buried under a thick layer of snow and someone needed to come along with an icepick to crack that surface. Now, as time has passed and this information has grown and evolved (as it was intended to!), that very intense “shock” strategy doesn’t resonate. As a collective we’re growing more in tune with our energetic bodies and the younger generations have grown up with Human Design floating around their consciousness’ – whether they know it or not. In my opinion, Human Design is becoming less “read this manual and you’ll understand it all” and more lead by example and experience to share and grow as a collective. As a 1/3 profile, this is how I would like to be taught, and I’m sure there are many people out there who agree.

By nature, I’m always looking for the fact, theory, or any bit of information I can learn about a topic. I’m a researcher but when it comes to Human Design, I know that can only take me so far. The first line in my profile feels most comfortable when I have all the “right” facts to convey to other people. While this means I do my research, there’s a huge part of me that really needs to try it and put it into practice for it to make sense. This is all about the Human Design *experience.* How can I take the information I learn about myself and apply it in ways that inspires and empowers me? Next, given what I’ve learned – how can we make that work for you?

Let’s see this in action

One example here is working with the Channel of the Alpha. I have this channel and there was a solid month where 8/10 people I saw also had this channel. This channel is usually described as “democratic leadership” that requires the leader to gain the trust of the group around them. There’s a lot of focus on leading for the collective, which I personally think loses some of the focus and magic of this energy. It feels to much like being a good politician who is really just pandering to the people around them for power. I struggled to explain how exactly this energy works in a way that seems relatable and practical.

That’s when I remembered a little tidbit I picked up during yoga training. One of our teachers would always talk about the magnetic resonance that happens when you commit yourself to a spiritual practice – no one knows what exactly you’re doing to be the magical way you are, but they all know they want whatever is working for you! This is how I see the channel of the Alpha. It’s the most unassuming yogi in the corner who just looks so dang happy every day and feels so good to be around, people can’t help but flock to them.

This channel connects gate 31 (influence) in the throat to gate 7 (leadership looking toward the future) in the identity center. The throat center is a powerful motor for manifestation and the identity center is where our life purpose lives. We think of leaders up on pedestals and put a lot of pressure on ourselves to innovate or come up with something that people will follow with this energy. After all, how will people know I’m meant to lead them? But the kicker is in the role that the throat and the identity center are playing in the background. The identity center is all about loving and accepting ourselves unconditionally and setting an example for others from that place. Rather than looking at this channel as a very “politician/I have to impress everyone” energy – we can find that the truest path to leadership comes from you committing to yourself. Your influence naturally develops from there and you are able to speak your truth and the leadership manifests from there.

Where it all clicks together

This is the magic of understanding that happens when the research meets the experience. We can’t integrate information we don’t yet understand – and as far as I know, there isn’t a single person living right now who is 100% in alignment with their design every second of their lives. We’re all working on this together so we can teach and empower one another. After all, Human Design teaches we’re all so different and specifically created for a reason – so we can open ourselves to the variety and wonder that is our collective existence.

So, are you ready to start living your own experience? I’d love to talk to you!
